Chingaza National Natural Park is located in the mountain range of the Andes east of Bogotá. Its predominant ecosystems are páramo moors and high Andean forests. Its predominant vegetation are the imosing frailejones (lat.: espeletia). You can see many birds and with some luck a spectacled bear among other varied fauna and flora. One of the best options to explore is hiking to the Siecha lakes, one of the sacred lakes of the Muisca culture.

Altimetry and Difficulty
Hiking in Chingaza takes place mainly between 3,000 and 3,800 meters above sea level, which implies a lower concentration of oxygen and can affect physical performance.
- Medium difficulty: Trails such as Lagunas de Siecha and Rincón del Oso, with elevations between 400 and 500 meters.
- High Difficulty: Routes with elevations over 1,000 m and distances over 20 km, recommended only for experienced mountaineers.
Technical Recommendations
- Clothing: Waterproof and thermal clothing, suitable for cold and wet weather.
- Footwear: Waterproof trekking boots with good grip.
- Additional equipment: Hiking poles, comfortable backpack, sun protection, hat, gloves and flashlight.
- Hydration and food: Carry enough water and energy food.
- Guides: It is mandatory to hire authorized guides for hiking.
