Juan Solito Ecolodge is a remote, nature-focused eco-lodge located in the heart of Colombia’s eastern plains (Los Llanos), within the vast private reserve of Hato La Aurora in the department of Casanare. Set along the banks of the Ariporo River, the lodge offers an authentic immersion into one of the country’s most biodiverse and least explored regions.

Designed with a low environmental impact philosophy, the ecolodge blends simple, traditional architecture with its natural surroundings. Built using local materials, Juan Solito is deeply committed to sustainability and the protection of the fragile surrounding ecosystem. In line with this approach, there is no air conditioning or hot water, and electricity is available for a limited time—approximately four hours in the evening—encouraging a closer connection with nature.

The small lodge offers a range of accommodation options adapted to different levels of comfort. The main house features seven spacious rooms, complemented by four simple, rustic cabins, as well as more immersive options such as hammocks. All rooms are equipped with private bathrooms, lighting, and a fan, maintaining a balance between comfort and environmental responsibility.

Juan Solito Ecolodge is particularly known for its rich wildlife experiences. Activities include “llanero safaris,” horseback riding, trekking, fishing, and birdwatching, offering opportunities to observe species such as capybaras, caimans, deer, and a wide variety of birds in their natural habitat.
