Day 1

Welcome to Colombia! Over the next few days, let yourself be inspired by the hospitality and the small everyday treasures of Colombia, try typical delicacies and the fresh fruit! Transfer from Bogotá airport to the hotel.

Day 2

Take a walk to experience the contrast between the modern and historic parts of Bogotá. Stroll through the aisles of La Concordia market, full of vendors selling exotic and delicious fruits, vegetables and fresh local produce. Then continue to the mythical La Candelaria district, made up of colourful colonial houses and located in the old city centre around Bolívar Square. Here you will find the government district, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, the Palace of Justice, the Parliament and the City Hall, all important places in Colombian history. Visit the famous museum of the Colombian artist Fernando Botero, where you can discover an extraordinary collection of contemporary art. The collection includes not only sculptures by Botero, made from various materials, but also paintings that made him an internationally recognised artist, as well as works by artists such as Monet, Picasso and others. Finally, you can stroll through the halls of the Gold Museum to admire a unique collection of pre-Columbian gold jewellery. These impressive pieces were created by the indigenous communities that inhabited what is now Colombia and offer a fascinating insight into their artistic skills and culture.

Day 3

It’s time to leave the capital to go to the old colonial city of Zipaquirá. You visit its impressive underground church, entirely carved in salt stone, and know more about the history of the salt of the region from the indigenous time until our actual time. In the late afternoon you will arrive at Villa de Leyva, the former summer residence of the bishop of Tunja. Take a walk through the cobbled streets and head towards the Plaza Mayor.

Day 4

Explore the surroundings of Villa de Leyva on a beautiful walk in the surrounding hills (2 hours, easy level). The view of the old colonial town is magnificent. During the tour you will be able to visit different historical attractions, starting with a visit to the Santo Ecce-Homo monastery, declared one of the 7 wonders of Colombia in 2007. Walk through the charming and colourful garden of the monastery. Then, if you are interested in fossils, you can visit the paleontological research centre. Your next stop could be the Monastery of La Candelaria, also known as the “Monumento Nacional del Silencio”, an Augustinian monastery built in 1604 and considered by some as the oldest in South America.

Day 5

After a walk in Villa de Leyva you will drive directly to the airport in Bogotá, where you will take your next flight. Flight from Bogotá to Armenia. Transfer from Armenia airport to the hotel.

Day 6

Start your trip to two iconic places in the Coffee Culture, Cocora Valley and Salento. Live a peaceful day with a gentle walk in the middle of the mountainous valley located in the Colombian Andes and admire the majestic Wax Palm, Colombia’s emblematic tree. Walk through the colorful coffee architecture, discover the Calle Real in one of the most picturesque villages of Colombia, Salento. Enjoy its gastronomy and the softest coffee in the world at Alto de las Cruces where you can enjoy the view of this place.

Day 7

At the Hacienda Combia, you can feel like you’re on a real coffee farm. Experience the entire coffee process from the harvest to the enjoyment of a cup. Surrounded by coffee plantations, the hacienda offers an exciting COMBIA INSPIRACION tour, a visit to 10 stations where you become an artist moulding your own cup of coffee. Take part in a tasting session with a barista. In the afternoon, continue your journey from Armenia to Medellín. On the way, enjoy the breathtaking views of the green, mountainous landscapes and winding roads that meander through valleys and picturesque villages. The panoramas of the Andes mountain range, with its majestic peaks, offer an unforgettable sight and make the journey a truly special experience.

Medellín – the “City of Eternal Spring” – located in the Andean highlands of Antioquia, is nowadays the most innovative city of Latin America. Its recent past was strongly related to the life of Pablo Escobar and violent gang fights. During the last twenty years Medellín went through some drastic changes. An innovative program of urban development that combines modern means of public transport and the construction of public parks and areas of recreation for the local people turned Medellín from the most dangerous city in the world into a modern example of urban transformation. Explore the Andean capital of Colombia and get an insight of the history of city visiting the “Pueblito Paisa” and enjoy perfect views of the city. Explore the famous Botero Plaza downtown with an exhibition of the Colombian artist Fernando Botero, whose sculptures have become a landmark of the city.Take the Metrocable. Comuna 13 a neighbourhood of Medellín once dominated by gang crime. In Comuna 13 See graffiti made by some local artists. This tour will give you an insight into the history and daily life of this neighbourhood, as well as the importance of street art for social communication and identity. You can observe another innovative project that has improved the quality of life for people in Medellín, the escalators. Day 9

Travel to the mountainous region of eastern Antioquia, where you can enjoy impressive landscapes. You can ascend the Piedra del Peñol to observe the wonderful surroundings such as islands and green mountains inside a big blue lake. Take your time to explore and wander around the town of Guatapé, a small and quiet place with a pleasant climate, it is famous for its church and colorful facades decorated with baseboards on the walls of all the houses. Flight from Medellín to Santa Marta. Transfer from Santa Marta airport to the hotel in the Barlovento region.

Day 10

Discover the marvellous landscapes of the Tayrona National Park. Accompanied by your guide, embark on a two-hour hike through the tropical rainforest that covers the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. On the way, you will visit the beaches of Arrecifes, Arenilla and La Piscina before arriving at the beaches of El Cabo San Juan, where you will have the opportunity to refresh and rest in the middle of a paradisiacal landscape. Towards the end of the afternoon, you will return on foot to the Cañaveral sector to catch the transfer service that will take you to your accommodation.

Day 12

Transfer from Santa Marta to Cartagena. Crossing the Magdalena River, you will continue along the coast through the fishing villages. Arrival at the pearl of the Caribbean, Cartagena. Relax in the hotel or take a walk through the colourful streets and learn about the daily life of this city.

Day 13

Cartagena de Indias is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities in America. Its historic center, walled by the fortifications built in colonial times, retains its original architecture and is shown today in a myriad of colors that fill it with life and Caribbean joy. Its fascinating history as “The Pearl of the Caribbean” of that time, a place where great treasures were collected treasures and the largest slave port of the colonies in America, give this World Heritage City an immense importance. The stories of those great pirate attacks are present in each of the fortifications that remain intact to this day. The walking City-Tour starts at any hotel in the historic center. In a 3-hour tour you will visit the Plazuela de San Diego, Plaza Fernández de Madrid, Bolívar Park, Plaza de los Coches and Plaza Santo Domingo. You will also walk on the walls and visit the bastions of Santo Domingo and San Francisco Javier where you will learn about the history and defense strategy of the city. You will know the most emblematic streets and their legends and visit the most important churches such as the Cathedral, San Pedro Claver and Santo Domingo.
